Bulk up your Blazer Wardrobe

so i was reading this month’s GQ magazine (must read, its the style issue), and they spoke about getting some heavier blazers for the fall season.  i feel it’s a must as well – you just can’t wear the same blazers as you do in the spring.  heavier patterns like herringbone, tweed, and moleskin are all appropriate as alternatives to a parka (which you dont really need to wear unless you’re in alaska)

Tweed is an appropriate style during the day, or for an evening out.  Try subtle colors like greys or browns, and accent it with vivid colors like royal blues, yellow, or oranges.  Make sure to wear it with a pair of dark denim jeans, as anything light would take away from its appeal as a dressier look.  Couple it with a pair of grey or navy slacks to dress it up even more.

You can try something different and throw moleskin into your wardrobe, again in a chocolate brown color or a navy blue, and can dress this up or down, depending on your mood.  I know that GAP made some for like $88, which isn’t a bad look at all.

Be a moleskin man and get your weight up.

Check out J.Crew or GAP for some good selection of blazers and other outerwear items that can be used as a substitute for heavy overcoats in the fall – match them up with a pair of dark denim and some man boots from previous posts and now you’re talking.
